Air Canada Centre ICONS, honours performers who have helped establish the venue as a global entertainment destination through artist recognition. To publicly recognize these iconic artists and to share this celebration with fans, a permanent Air Canada Centre ICONS fixture has been installed in the Galleria showcasing and honouring the names of those inducted.
A key element of Air Canada Centre ICONS is honouring the artist through an induction into the program. Evaluated by an entertainment industry consortium, iconic performers are inducted based on their outstanding achievement and ongoing contribution to Air Canada Centre and Toronto as a global leader in live entertainment
In addition to being added to the Air Canada Centre ICONS board, MLSE Live will also donate money to the charity of the artist’s choice and Canadian music education charity, MusiCounts. MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), is helping to keep music alive in schools across Canada. MusiCounts’ mission is to ensure that children in Canada, regardless of socio-economic circumstances or cultural background, have access to a music program through their school. MusiCounts includes Band Aid musical instrument grants, the MusiCounts Teacher of the Year Award, Scholarships, and other music education initiatives.
The consortium includes Riley O’Connor (Live Nation Chairman), Scott Henderson (Vice President of Communications, Bell Media), Allan Reid (CEO and President, CARAS, The Juno Awards and MusiCounts), Julie Adam (Senior Vice President, Rogers Radio) and Melissa Bubb-Clarke (Senior Director, MLSE Live).
