Inspiration: Live In Concert
Eglinton Carpet, Platinum Promotions and Etobicoke Motors announce ""Inspiration"", a blockbuster concert coming to Air Canada Centre, featuring top Bollywood film music trio, Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy along with singing sensations Richa Sharma, Amanat Ali and Mahalaxmi Iyer. On Sunday, July 18, 2010, ""Inspiration"" will mark the first ever live concert in Toronto for these artists, which will also feature over 60 musicians, singers and dancers.
Individually, the members of Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy: Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Nooranim and Loy Mendonsa, have each reached separate levels of success. Shankar Mahadevan studied Western, Hindu-stani and Carnatic classical music and was a leading playback singer with Pukar, Sapnay and Biwi No.1. Ehsaan Nooranim studied music at the Musicians' Institute in Los Angeles, California and worked with the likes of Ronnie Desal and Louis Banks. Loy Mendonsa, like his fellow group members, was also trained in music and learnt the rudiments of Indian classical music. He performed with several bands, plays (Godspell, West Side Story and Jesus Christ Superstar) and composed many jingles and signature tunes.
As a group, Skhankar, Ehsaan and Loy entered into mainstream cinema with Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Mission Kashmir, which earned them a place in the Bollywood film industry. They continued as music directors of two hit films, Dil Chahta Hai and Dharma Productions' Kal Ho Na Ho. Since then, they have continued to work and produce music for Bollywood films including Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, which become a best seller of Bollywood music.
Shafqat Amanat Ali, nicknamed ""the Rock star Ustad"", is well-respected among music circles for his classically trained voice and command of contemporary music. He has had tremendous success lending his voice and music to many top-grossing films including singing the song ""Tere Nalna"" for My Name is Khan.
Richa Sharma was only eight years old when she was invited to sing before religious congregations in and around Delhi. She made her debut in Bollywood with Sawan Kumar's SALMA PE DIL AA GAYA and has continued to follow it up with a number of hit films.
Mahalxmi Iyer made her singing debut with A R Rahman in Mani Ratnam's Dil Se. Since then, she has sung over a thousand songs in films, jingles and original albums. She has continued to contribute to several successful soundtracks and work with some of music's biggest composers, including the Academy Award winning song "Jai Ho" for A R Rahman in the hit film, Slumdog Millionaire.
